A Drink Too Far // PG // Dragon Age // Fem!Cousland/Alistair, implied possible Fem!Cousland/Teagan

Title: A Drink Too Far
Fandom: Dragon Age
Rating: PG, mentions of alcohol use
Characters: Ursula Cousland, Alistair, Bann Teagan, Wynne, Oghren
Pairing: Fem!Cousland/Alistair, implied possible Fem!Cousland/Teagan
Word Count: 2,270
Summary: Alistair can't hold his booze. And neither can Bann Teagan, apparently. How do men settle their differences? Why, by a drinking contest, of course.
A/N: This is my submission for the Week Two Official Swooping Challenge for the prompt, Alistair can't hold his booze. This is my first time writing a DA fanfic, so I hope you all enjoy!

This was getting ridiculous now.

In fact, it’d surpassed ridiculous several snide comments ago and had entered the realm of the utterly absurd with the introduction of The Challenge. The one that Alistair had been unable to decline, whether because of his pride or something else. A part of the Grey Warden could not believe that he was in the situation that he found himself in right now – and with Eamon’s brother, of all people. The other part of the ex-Templar was not at all surprised by the way things were now spiraling out of his control. If this suicide quest of theirs had taught him anything thus far, it was that things could go from bad to worse and probably would.

And he blamed Bann Teagan for it. Well, at least for this instance of misfortune and bad choices. He guessed the Blight itself wasn’t really his fault . . . but that was all beside the point he was trying to make. That point being . . . Alistair lost his train of thought for a few bewildering seconds.

Oh, wait, there it was.

From the moment that they’d entered the Redcliffe chantry, Teagan had been all charm and chivalry. Combined with those dark, handsome looks of his, it was no wonder Ursula had been taken in by it all. Any woman would have been. But Ursula was not just ‘any woman’. Not to Alistair, anyway. It was beginning to seem – at least to him – as though she was more than just ‘some lady’ to Teagan, too.

Maybe no one had told him, Alistair thought grudgingly, but the position of knight in shining armour was taken already.

By him, thank you very much.

Or maybe that was the booze talking? He really couldn’t tell anymore. It was kind of incredible how a drink or two . . . or five . . . could change a person’s outlook on life. Had things been much clearer and less problematic before that last ale, he wondered, or was that a side effect of the alcohol as well? What did that make, anyway? Six? Or was it seven? He noted to himself that he should really keep count, and then promptly forgot what he should be keeping count of.

“Are we to settle this like gentleman, then?”

Alistair narrowed his eyes. “You mean . . .?”

“Naturally.”

And then Alistair had found himself in the tavern, seated across from Teagan with nothing to separate them but a collection of frothing mugs and enmity. The competition rules had been simple: first one to pass out loses. Alistair knew he didn’t hold his liquour well; he was as much a lightweight as they came. But what he didn’t know was whether the Bann could hold his own or not, and that gave him a hope that he would probably have been better off without. Even now, with liquid up to his eyeballs, he remembered thinking that maybe – just maybe – the Maker would allow things to go right for the former Chantry child. Just this one time, when the stakes were oh so high.

Those stakes being as simple as the rules: winner gets Ursula. Okay, maybe that wasn’t exactly what they’d agreed upon, but that was the gist as Alistair’s ale-riddled mind interpreted it. Right now, he could recall only bits and pieces of the argument that they’d had before agreeing upon a drinking contest to settle the dispute. According to his memory, it’d gone something like this: Ursula was her own woman, blah blah blah, if Teagan wanted to pay her attention he could, blah, Alistair didn’t own her. And no, a duel was out of the question. Not that it had even been suggested at the time. They weren’t uncivilised, after all.

Yet, as the room began to spin, he wondered if a duel wouldn’t have been his better option.

“Slowing down, yet, Teagan?” Alistair taunted.

The man responded with a bark of hearty laughter. “Hardly!”

They were gathering an audience now with a few occupants having stopped their own drinking to watch their beloved Bann have it out with one of their heroic Wardens. Neither man seemed to notice, however, which was probably for the best; as it was, Alistair figured that he was going to regret this later.

If he lost, that is. Something he had no intention of having happen.

“You know,” Teagan said, downing the dregs of his latest cup. “It’s to your credit that you’re willing to humiliate yourself for her.”

“Yeah, you too.” What had he said?

“But what sane man wouldn’t?”

“I’ll drink to that.”

They both took another long swig of their respective drinks.

“She is a woman of unmistakable beauty as well as strength,” the Bann went on, the amount of alcohol that he’d consumed apparently enough for him to wax poetic.

Alistair nodded. “And she’s pretty, too.”

Another pair of mugs emptied, and sanity seemed that much farther away.

“We wouldn’t have been able to procure the ashes for Eamon without her,” Alistair continued, only slurring his words a little. “’s a good thing, too. I like Eamon. He’s a good man, that Eamon. Eaaaaamon.” His name suddenly sounded funny, and he laughed at it. It was a funny name, wasn’t it?

Teagan wiped some beads of moisture from the fine facial hair around his mouth. “I owe you both a debt of gratitude for that.”

“You could let me win.”

“I could,” he agreed, and then took another drink. “But I won’t.”

“Rats.” Alistair took another drink, too, despite the fact that he didn’t think he could stomach much more.

“It’s a shame it came to this,” he said with sudden sobriety – or, at least, the appearance of it. “I was always fond of you, Alistair.”

“Yeah?”

“As far as bastards go, you were one of the best.”

“Uh, thanks. I think.”

The Bann stood up then, a bit too fast as betrayed by the way he swayed dangerously for a few moments, and then spoke in a commanding tone. “I propose a toast!” he said, his voice thick with inebriation.

“I like toasts,” Alistair told the stranger sitting next to him who merely nodded, humouring the drunk.

“To the valiant Grey Wardens,” Teagan said in his loud, booming voice. “Whose valiance saved the day thrice over. Let not their valiant acts ever be forgotten.” Any lack of eloquence on Teagan’s part was lost on Alistair.

The Warden lifted his mug, its contents sploshing around with as much uncertainty as Alistair’s stomach but he maintained a smile. Those that had turned their gazes to the two men imitated the gesture and raised their glasses to the toast as well. This, as far as they appeared to understand, was no more than a celebration for what had been accomplished and what was yet to be achieved.

A cheer went up from the group of patrons, and the contest went on.

- - -

“What? What is it?” Ursula continued to ask even as she was half-dragged, half-ushered towards the tavern entrance. Wynne was only shaking her head, but Oghren was practically skipping into the establishment. “Did either of you find Alistair . . .?”

The smell of vomit and other unsavoury bodily fluids hit Ursula like a wall as she passed over the threshold into the raucous tavern. Noise was pervasive, seeming everywhere all at once. She could barely think but smiled at the liveliness of it all and pressed inwards through the thick crowd of those that had come to partake in the alcoholic offerings of the place. Ursula wasn’t one to drink a lot or often, but she kept finding herself in such shady establishments like this one as of late. The way she figured it, there was no harm in her companions taking a break on the journey; if they wanted to drown their sorrows within a mug of ale, she wasn’t about to deprive them of one of their few comforts.

In a wave of inebriated sound, a chorus of voices rose up over the cacophony. The voices of the crowd were led by two familiar ones coming from a pair of gentlemen who had climbed atop a table and proceeded to start a rowdy round of song. Arms around one another’s shoulders and pints in hand, they swayed to the tune that they themselves were producing. A rather offbeat, atrocious tune at that. The Grey Warden had to clap a hand over her mouth to keep from laughing at the silly sight.

“Ho, fair lady!” Teagan greeted, even as Alistair continued to sing without knowing the words.

“Bann Teagan?” Ursula blinked, her gaze traveling from the once distinguished man to the other drunk beside him. “Alistair?”

“Ursula! Hey!” Alistair exclaimed, waving his pint at her and throwing off the balance of both himself and the Bann. They both came crashing down, much to the humour of those around them. It wasn’t funny to Ursula, however, whose concern for the men’s wellbeing had her rushing to their sides instantly.

She reached Alistair first, while Wynne attended to Teagan. “Alistair, are you all right?” He couldn’t seem to focus his eyes on her, but managed to give her a sloppy smile all the same.

“Never . . . better,” he drawled.

“Wynne, how’s Teagan?” Ursula said, remaining by the side of her wasted friend.

“Out cold, I’m afraid,” Wynne said, a disapproving note entering her voice. “Though not because of the fall, I’d wager.”

Alistair let out a whoop of victory, though Ursula did not understand why.

“Alistair, what’s going on here?”

His grin stretched from ear to ear. “I won,” he said.

“You won?”

“Yep.” He popped the P of his word and continued smiling as his head lolled a little to the side.

“Right, well . . .” Ursula began to help him up only to realise that he was more than just a little unsteady on his feet. She had to support most of his weight just to prevent him from falling over. Again. “Congratulations. I think. Now let’s get you out of here before you hurt yourself . . .”

“Aren’t you gonna ask me what I won?”

Ursula motioned to Wynne who nodded in understanding as she tried to get a few of the Bann’s men to help carry him back to the castle. The Warden’s gaze returned to her fellow as she helped him outside. “What did you win?”

“You.”

The woman had to stifle laughter at this. “Oh, is that so?”

“Yep!” He popped the P of the word, again, which seemed to be his new favourite thing to do. “I guess that means we should get married now.”

This time, she did laugh. “I guess so. When should we have the wedding?”

“Maybe when the world stops spinning?”

Ursula stopped, letting Alistair sit down for a moment. Worry drove out the amused light that had previously been in her eyes as she looked him over, touching the side of his face with tenderness. “Just how much did you drink, Alistair?”

“I don’t know. Five . . . seventy mugs, maybe . . . I lost count.”

“So somewhere between five and seventy, wonderful.” She shook her head.

Alistair got real quiet then, as he looked at her. There was a strange intensity to his gaze, as if he was trying to puzzle out an answer to some silent question brewing in his muddled mind. Then, he leaned in close to her, close enough for her to smell the ale on his breath, which truly wasn’t attractive. But his intimate proximity was far more dizzying and intoxicating to her than any alcohol would have been. She wasn’t sure what he was doing, and so didn’t lean away as good judgement might have suggested.

“I really like you, Ursula,” he said. “You know that?”

“I really like you, too, Alistair.”

“Like, a lot. A lot lot.” He spread his arms wide to illustrate. “Like, this much.”

She chuckled, and that sparkle of life returned to her blue-grey eyes. “I feel the same way. But I don’t think right now is a good time to be talking about this . . . You’re drunk.”

“Really drunk,” he agreed.

A pause as she smiled softly and he moved in a little closer.

“I think . . .” he continued, seeming to come to the conclusion of whatever it was that he had been getting at as his voice turned low and serious.

She was acutely aware of how close his face was to hers now, lips just breadths apart. “Yes?”

“I think . . .” he said, “I’m going to go to sleep now.”

And then he passed out, his head pitching forward right into her armoured bosom. She blinked in temporary shock before removing his head from its awkward resting place and getting to her feet. It was a challenge to get the incapacitated man back to Redcliffe castle, but the Warden managed it after much difficulty and little to no help from the Arl’s guards who could only laugh as they passed by.

While it was true that she didn’t know exactly what had gone down that night before her arrival, one thing was certain.

Alistair obviously couldn’t hold his booze.

- - -

Meanwhile, back in the tavern with the excitement of the night’s activities having wound down, Oghren found himself with a purse full of coin and some time all to himself. He grinned.

The dwarf then sat down and motioned the tavernkeeper over.

“I’ll have whatever they did.”
Alistair Icons!

So I finally caved and made some icons for my newest fandom love, Dragon Age Origins. Specifically, they're all of Alistair, my favourite character from the game! If you haven't played it, I highly recommend it. Expect more icons (and fanfic) soon. Until then, I hope you enjoy these icons!

Teasers:

I am a bad friend.

. . . as evidenced by my sudden and prolonged absence over the past few months. I'm so sorry to my flist, life just suddenly leapt out of the shadows and was like "MUAHAHA PWN" and I went down for the count. To make a long story short, in the time that I've been gone, I graduated from high school and have started attending college! That combined with my church activities has left me quite swamped with very little time in between to do much -- though I do my best to keep up on my writing and whatnot. However, now that things are settling down (ish), I feel like I'll have more time to keep up with my LJ again! Which is great news for me because I miss all you lovely people on my flist!

In other news, I'm going to be participating in NaNoWriMo again this year (National Novel Writing Month for those of you who aren't familiar with it) and will probably be a little scarce again in November on this LJ, but you can keep up with me at my writing LJ, doleful_evening. Just add me and I'll be happy to add you back over there! I could use all the support I can get for writing a novel in a month, lol.

Let's see, what else . . . Well, I started watching Flashforward and it looks awesome so far. I wish LOST would come back sooner than February. I miss Daniel and Charlotte, but Joseph Fiennes may be able to appease me until then. Gosh, I've gone through so many fandoms in these past couple of months, it's kind of ridiculous. LOL. So You Think You Can Dance is also one of my new favourite shows since the summer, as is Leverage. Aaaaand, I kind of miss writing fanfiction so you might be getting some fanfic or icons within the next month or so if I can get my behind in gear (as opposed to it being whipped by the educational system).

So yes, I do want to catch up with y'all so drop me a comment and we can chat! I want to know how you all have been doing! ^^

LOST 5x06: 316

For an Oceanic Six-centric episode, I was pleasantly surprised.

So after the absolute downer last week, I went into this episode with a box of tissues prepared to bawl my eyes out the moment Daniel came on screen looking distraught as I imagined he would be. Imagine my surprise when there was no Daniel in the opening scene . . . or any of them. Yes, folks (and by folks, I mean Charladay shippers like myself), Darlton not only killed off one of our favourite characters last week but then he doesn't even SHOW our remaining favourite character!

Even more surprising was how much I actually enjoyed this episode despite it. I really think it's episodes like these that remind me that I'm not just watching for certain characters, but because I do genuinely love the story as well. There's just so many twists and turns and I still don't know what the heck is going on half the time, but I love it. I effing love it. LOST, never change, even if I yell at you to. (Oh, but feel free to bring back Charlotte. ;_;)

ANYWAY! On to my favourite parts about last night's smashing episode. :)

Benjamin Linus. There is no doubt in my mind that Ben made last night's episode. From his general attitude to his witty one-liners (which I will be listing at the end of this), he made me laugh when I was feeling in the mood to cry going into the episode. There's just something about Ben that I find absolutely amazing, and I think I'll just chalk it up to Michael Emerson's incredible acting; aside from Jeremy Davies, I'd say he's likely to be the best actor on the show, hands down. The way he delivers his lines just gives you shivers! And his bug-eyed look never fails to add to the creep-factor. He's still probably one of the few that has any sort of idea as to what's going on.

Jack/Kate. Okay. Seriously. Darlton. WE DO NOT CARE ANYMORE ABOUT JACK AND KATE! I mean, yes, they're part of the story, and yes, I'm sure they must have some fans, somewhere, but seriously. Gag me with an effing SPORK. That kiss and implied sex was just disgusting. I know I cannot be the only one who thought this. I felt it was sort of ill-timed, too, like what the heck? You're both going back to the Island and you're wasting potential preparation time jumping each other's bones? Blech.

Return to the Island. The plane ride there was fantastic with all its witty banter, amusing me nonstop. But once they were there, I was kind of like "crap, now Kate's going to go be causing problems for Sawyer again!". But I was happy to see Jin, knowing that Sun had to be somewhere on the Island, toooooo! I can't wait for their reunion, I hope it's a happy one! And speaking of, where is everyone else . . . namely, I want to know where Ben is since he was supposed to not be able to return to the Island. So much for that, I guess.

Theory on Bruised and Bleeding Ben. I totally think that Ben went and provoked Sayid into beating him up so that Sayid would be arrested and put on the plane while simultaneously acting as a proxy for Kate who was arrested when she was last on the plane. My mom thinks that Desmond might have beaten Ben up though for trying to do something to Penny. I think either theory could work, really, but I think mine is funnier. xD

And on the note of proxies . . .

Is Kate Pregnant Now? Okay, this theory wasn't one I came up with but read elsewhere, but it sort of made sense. Locke was Christian Shepard's proxy, Sayid could have been Kate's proxy, and if Kate was now pregnant with Jack's child (ick. ick. ick.) then she'd be Claire's proxy . . . all while they also represent themselves, naturally. I think it's certainly possible.

Locke's Letter. It felt like a total "I told you so" moment and I could only salute John Locke for it. He has pretty much redeemed himself in my eyes. Welcome back into the fold, my friend!

Okayokayokay, also. I have to mention this because my mom also came up with this idea. She's really gotten into the fandom lately, haha.

Stuck in the Seventies? So Locke turns the Donkey Wheel of Time Manipulation/Doom and does that mean that they're now stuck in whatever time it was at that point of time when he turned it? If so, are they done flashing around time? If so so, THEN WHY COULDN'T CHARLOTTE HAVE HELD ON JUST A LITTLE BIT LONGER, DANGIT? I will be really upset if that's the case because then she would have been SO close to survival and it would just be like pouring salt into the wound.

On that note and last, but certainly not least . . .

Charladay. I MISS YOU, ALREADY. Don't worry, Daniel will fix this, Charlotte. Somehow. Some way. He will bring you back. And for all the naysayers out there, YOU CAN'T STOP TRUE LOVE. OR TIME TRAVELING SUPER HEROES. I totally want to see Daniel breaks the laws of time and end up saving Charlotte, even if that means that he'll never have met her in the future . . . or the past, whatever. At least she'll be alive. We know he's going to try, and I look forward to that moment.

Best Quotes of the Night (as accurately as I can remember).
Jack: Is he telling the truth?
Hawkings: Probably not.
(this defined Ben right here. xD)

Jack: What about all the other people on the plane?
Ben: Who cares?
(my mom and I /cracked up/ at that XDD; Ben's so nonchalant about the potential deaths of other innocent people, I love it)

Jack: How can you read?
Ben: My mother taught me.
(are we seeing a trend in amazing one-liners this episode? xD)

Frank: Sayid . . . Kate . . . Hurley . . . Sun . . . We're not going to Guam, are we?
(he's so observant!)

Locke's Letter: I wish you had believed.
("neener, neener, I TOLD YOU SO, JACK!")

That's all I can recall off the top of my head for now, but feel free to bring up stuff that I forgot to include! As always, I love chatting and theorizing with all you guys! :D

Because I needed a little something to cheer me up after last week's LOST, I present to you this fun, upbeat Charladay video! It basically focuses on how Daniel feels about Charlotte--how he's "crazy for this girl"! ;) Hope you enjoy!

Song: Crazy for this Girl
Artist: Evan and Jaron
Warning: Spoilers for S4 and S5 of LOST.
Notes: Watch it in High Quality!

<lj-embed id="13" />
(And if you want to drop me a comment and/or rating on the vid on youtube, that'd be very much appreciated!
LOST 5x05: This Place is Death

Literally. ;_;

See my icon? SEE DANIEL'S SAD? THAT'S HOW I FREAKING LOOK RIGHT NOW. I'm too distraught to put my thoughts down for anything else that happened during the episode. There's just . . . so much sad. So much. She didn't even get to tell him that she loved him back! It's not fair, dammit.

Rest in peace, Charlotte. You shall be sorely missed.

*cries and cuddles Daniel*

And this just makes my already crappy week worse. Thanks a lot, LOST.
LOST 5x04 Review

Sorry this is late, haven't had a chance to watch it until today!

Another good episode, though it wasn't as fantastic as its predecessor--but not much could top such an amazing episode like "Jughead". It's pacing seemed less crazily hectic, but still fast enough to keep my interest; it was a nice break of sorts. A bit too much Jack/Kate and a little too little Charladay would be my only complaints about it.

Jack and Kate. Ehhh, I'm still a Skater (and not even that much of one nowadays). To be honest, I'm so sick of Kate in general . . . and her whole "I've always been with you" was complete BS. Oh yes, I've always been with you--except for the time when I slept with Sawyer. Oh, did I forget to mention that? Pffff. Who knows what kind of mental damage Kate and Jack will cause for poor Aaron; neither of them are exactly good parental figures.

Benry is so sneaky. I say this like it's news, hah. I totally knew that it was him manipulating the strings behind the whole Aaron dealio. I was thrown off momentarily by Claire's mother, but in the end, I was right anyway! XD Anyone else think it's sad that Aaron's grandmother doesn't even know about him? I mean, I understand why of course, but still. Aaron would be so much better off with her.

Juliet and Sawyer. I can't say I ship them, but I'm not opposed to them getting together. They seem to compliment one another rather nicely. I especially like how Juliet doesn't get riled one bit by Sawyer's growling. She's just like "Sit, stay! Good boy." Juliet remains the best female character on the show, easily. Charlotte notwithstanding.

Charladay! Because it's not a LOST recap rant without mention of my favourite couple! I love how Daniel is so protective of her, and how he's always touching her and trying to see if she's okay. He's just so loverly! Also: I almost got my heart broken just by seeing Daniel's expression when Charlotte first wakes up and is like "who are you?" and he looks as though he might cry as he's like "It's me, it's Daniel". I was like "OMGOSH, DARLTON, DON'T YOU DARE GO THE AMNESIA ROUTE!" Still: the irony there was not lost on me. How sadly poetic would it be if Charlotte ended up being the one to forget Daniel first in the long-run, rather than him forgetting her because of his brain troubles?

Nosebleeds all around! Is it awful of me to have been comforted by the fact that Miles and Juliet also got nosebleeds? Because, I mean, we know that Darlton wouldn't kill off all three of them, and maybe this'll put more pressure to find a way to fix them! . . . or maybe I'm just in denial of an inevitable death. Either way, I still have faith that Daniel will save Charlotte. He has to. The alternative will not be accepted. Period.

Slimy lawyer is slimy. 'Nuff said.

Sun's Evil Twin. Am I the only one who gets freaked out by Sun every time she comes on? The woman is CARAZY now! I just expect her to totally snap and start shooting people. It'll be interesting to see if she actually goes through with shooting Ben. I hope not though because that seems like it'd be the point of no return for dear Sun.

And speaking of Sun . . .

JIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!!! I totally did not even think it was him when he was rescued by Team Frenchie! But I was so so so glad to see him! It made me smile! Oh, Jin, you have been missed! Go find your wife and babeh and live happily ever after!

Team Frenchie. The Island must just love pretty men, and this is why those pretty French men (and woman) got shipwrecked there. Let this be a lesson to all sailors/frequent fliers: be ugly! ;) But really, I called the whole Rousseau thing! But it makes me wonder, how did she give birth to Alex on the Island if there's that whole pregnant women die thing? Or did that just start later? Oh, the many questions . . .

And I think that's it for now. Sort of an unenthused recap this week, sorry y'all. I also keep meaning to get on to writing some fanfiction but something always comes up to distract or interrupt me! *shakes fist at other things* Also: to those who are writing Charladay fanfiction, keep going! Spread the love and show your support for Charladay! Hopefully it'll help keep Charlotte alive! I will totally be reading through all of it when I get a chance; things have just been a bit hectic recently.

Charladay is love, and so is this layout.

Couldn't resist myself after Wednesday's amazing LOST episode! So, here we are, with a new Charladay layout for the season. Unless more cute scenes between them crop up, this one should be around for a while. :)

lady_boromir lady_boromir lady_boromir

LOST Episode 5x3: "Jughead" also known as "Daniel <3 Charlotte"

My life is now complete.

Last night, if you happened to hear a strange noise sometime between 9'oclock and 10'oclock, that was the sound of every Charladay shipper in the world exploding with squee out of sheer joy.

It probably sounded a little something like this:

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOHMYFREAKINGGOSH! DKSGJHKLAJH;FKDJGEKHGJELHGJS! SERIOUSLY! OMGOSH! OHMYFREAKINGGOSHONASTICK!!! DID HE JUST SAY THAT?! HE DID! HE DIIIIIIIID! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Variations may also have been heard, but the reaction to what every Charladay fangirl in the world will forever remember was similar. It was the moment that we've been waiting for ever since Daniel uttered that awkward little "I think I'll just stay here with Charlotte" way back when in S4. Each episode that we got to see them, the more we were convinced that they belonged together. And now, it's FREAKING CANON!

Because DANIEL FARADAY CONFESSED TO BEING IN LOVE WITH CHARLOTTE LEWIS!

The episode began fantastic as usual, and started out very promising in the Charladay arena.

"Why do you look so worried? Is it because you know what's happening to me?" "Nothing is going to happen to you. Nothing. I won't let it." Seriously, Daniel? Can you BE any more adorable? Just when I think it's not possible for him to be more loverly than he is, BAM! Is it any wonder that Charlotte cares for him so much? He's just such a sweet, amazing guy! This was the first of many epic squeeing that would take place.

"Because . . . I am in love with the woman sitting next to me. And I would never, ever do anything to hurt her." Words really fail to express just how crazy I went when Daniel uttered this line. I could've cried, I almost did. I absolutely love love LOVED exactly how he said it, and I felt it was just the perfect moment, especially considering how much danger they're all in (Charlotte especially). It was delivered superbly, and both their facial reactions were just brilliant. I about died, I kid you not. It was such an epic squee that I thought I might just literally explode. But I would have died happy.

OH, BUT IT GETS BETTER MY FRIENDS!

"You didn't have to say that." "Say what?" "That you loved me." "I said what I said because I meant it." HE SAID IT BECAUSE HE MEANT IT, CHARLOTTE. HE REALLY DOES LOVE YOU! WE'VE KNOWN IT FOR FOREVER. GET WITH THE PROGRAM! But on a more serious note, the way she was just smiling and everything spoke more than her words. She looked like a woman in love. And when he had to leave to go disarm the bomb, she looked rather distraught, too. They're both starting to show one another their true feelings for each other and I absolutely love it. To those who think Charlotte is a cold-hearted female dog, YOU. ARE. WRONG. Just look at the way she is with Daniel; it's obvious how much of a heart she has, it just only belongs to him. <3

Charlotte collapses at the end. Way to bring on the pathos after bringing the happy, LOST! I swear, you are like a hormonal woman! Charlotte can't die. I can't even entertain the possibility now. Just, no. Nope. I have spoken, Darlton, and I say that she must live! You can't take away the love of Daniel's life! LET ONE COUPLE HAVE A FREAKING HAPPY ENDING, DANGIT! But, I can't say I'm all that worried since the actress is signed up for all the episodes until the end (I think, I'm pretty sure last time I checked) which, yeah, I know that does mean too much. But I know she at least survives the next two. *wipes brow* After that . . . well, I place my faith in Daniel to save her. He will. You'll see. He will.

Alright, but enough about Charladay, I know my other LOST friends are probably going "hush! what about everything else that happened in the episode? it wasn't all about them!" to which I reply "Yes, it totally was. But I'll talk about the other stuff, too." ;)

Desmond and Penny has a baby nao! AWWW, LOOK AT THE LITTLE CHARLIE. HE EES SO KYUTE! Okay, but really, adorable little baby/kid and I'm glad that everything seems to still be smooth sailing (haha, pun) with them. :)

Faraday's Mom = Ms. Hawkings. I am utterly convinced now. Especially since I found out her first name was, get this, "Eloise". Sound familiar, Faraday fans? It should, because that was the name of Daniel's time traveling rat. Haha, oh, Daniel! xD

Daniel and Theresa and Widmore. The triangle that doesn't make sense one bit. Gosh, I don't even know where to begin with this whole thing. Daniel was working for Widmore before, er, working for Widmore later? And what did he do to Theresa? My theory: Theresa found out that Daniel was working on time traveling stuff and volunteered as a human subject. Daniel, being the scientist that he is, couldn't resist trying with a human and so consented to see if he could successfully transport a person's consciousness through time. He succeeded, but at great cost: Theresa continued to move through time, managing to find some sort of constant so it didn't kill her, but at the same time, it damaged her pretty badly to the state that we saw her in now. Horrified, Daniel flees to the States and stops his work. Another part of the theory might be that Theresa and Daniel were sort of a "thing" if you get my meaning, which made it double traumatizing for him when he couldn't fix her. Or something along those lines, I'm not yet sure. Any ideas, flist?

Locke was funny! I thought this deserved mention because some of his lines made me laugh, and that's a rarity for Mr. Locke who's always so serious lately.

Erm, and I think that's it for this episode. It's possible I forgot something in my Charladay excitement, but whatev. xD

Oh, and theleopard, you were totally right about the guy being Widmore thing! And I bet that the girl with the gun was Penny's mom!

I love you, LOST. Keep on keeping it real. Real lovely and Charladay-related that is. ;)

First, let me say that I totally don't have enough room for all the Charladay icons I want to upload. *frown* I seriously need a paid account, but ah well.

Secondly, this post is mostly an excuse to post THIS:

SQUEE! Seriously. Do you see how happy they both look to see each other? IT'S LOVE.

*watches it over and over again*

Where There's a Will, There's a Way (Right?)//LOST//Charladay//PG

Title: Where There's a Will, There's a Way (Right?)
Fandom: Lost
Rating: PG
Pairing: Daniel/Charlotte
Warning: Spoilers for S5.
Summary: This was just a problem. Every problem had a solution.
A/N: Takes place on the beach during S5, epi 2. Some lines taken directly from the show.

There had been a lot of things that had scared Daniel Faraday in the past. This was unsurprising since he was a rather skittish person by nature, or by accident if his experiments involving radiation were to blame, but whatever the case was it didn't take much to startle the man.

In fact, Daniel had a whole list of phobias ranging from the typical cockroaches (anything that could survive nuclear radiation didn't belong to this planet), to the bizarre plastic surgeons (he'd always thought that there was something absurdly strange and unnatural about altering a person's face or body, or what he considered was fighting against genetics), and all manner of things in between. Loud noises, in particular, were always guaranteed the result of making him jump, and violence was also known to set him ill at ease.

That being the case, how peculiar it was then for him to feel the most amount of terror that he'd ever experienced in the entirety of his life at seeing an average nosebleed.

But it wasn't just an average nosebleed, he reminded himself, and that was what frightened him the most.

When Benjamin Linus did whatever he did down in the Orchid, he dislodged the Island or its unfortunate occupants (either way, it mattered little) in time. As a result, they were now flashing between points on a timeline, seeming to shift through time and space itself. And no matter how hard Daniel worked to try and predict their destination or calculate whenever the next flash would come, there didn't seem to be any success to be found in his endeavours. He was dealing with a phenomenon that should have been impossible, so how would one be able to apply science to something that shouldn't have been happening at all? The answer was that he couldn't and, as all his efforts continued to be in vain, it seemed rather hopeless to him.

Still, he continued to make attempts. What else could he do? The Human body was not meant for teleportation or time travel or whatever this was. This meant that the longer they were subjected to abrupt temporal changes, the more damaging it would be on not only a mental level but a physical one as well. Soon, they wouldn't be able to distinguish between past, present, or future; they would begin suffering from disorientation, headaches, possibly amnesia, and then frequent seizures; they could survive one seizure, maybe two, but the third would put an end to more than just the time traveling.

And it would all start with a nosebleed.

Charlotte.

Seated on the beach, his mind was consumed with what to do in order to save her. He gazed at the small journal on his lap with such intense focus that one would have thought that he was searching for the answers to life itself within the crinkled pages. Maybe, to an extent, this was true.

If Charlotte . . . (he couldn't bring himself to even think the word) . . . what would he do?

The physicist flipped through his journal with furious determination. This was just a problem. Every problem had a solution. Complex though it might be, Daniel knew that there was an answer for it somewhere. He just had to find it, to figure it out. He could save her. He would save her. His brain couldn't comprehend the alternative, his heart refused to accept an alternative.

"Hey." Charlotte seemed to materialize out of the darkness, as though a physical manifestation of his thoughts.

Daniel flipped through the last several pages of his journal, hoping that the answer would suddenly appear and allow him to fix her then and there. Knowing that every moment was a moment that she moved closer to . . . It was nothing short of torture for him. "Hey. Just give me one second . . ."

The woman sat down beside him, handed him some sort of fruit. Daniel wasn't sure what it was, but the gesture was appreciated as he was starved.

"Got you something," she said.

He voiced his appreciation with a, "oh, hey!" and held the fruit between his hands. His eyes only remained on Charlotte, however. Her nose was no longer bleeding, but he wasn't sure whether to take that as a good sign or not as it could mean that she'd merely progressed to the next stage.

"Found these in the jungle," she explained.

"Look at that, thank you."

"There was only two, but I thought that we could both do with a bite to eat." Her smile was soft, her voice tired but light. She even managed a gentle laugh. Daniel remained suspicious of her condition, regardless.

"Thank you very much," he repeated, still just as sincere as before. It was less about her bringing the fruit, and more about her giving him the only company that he really desired--hers.

The smile that had been there just a second before faded, turned somewhat pained as she lifted a hand to her forehead, massaged it.

No, his mind cried. Oh, no, no.

"You alright?" he queried, trying to keep the inordinate amount of concern out of his tone even as he touched her shoulder gently. He failed miserably.

"I just can't seem to shake this bloody headache," she said, seeming more frustrated by an inability to do something rather than actual worry.

Daniel said nothing, just stared at her for longer than what would have been appropriate. He knew he should say something but no words would come. She had a headache. She was progressing. Rapidly. And he was no closer to figuring out a cure.

"Well." His voice sounded strangled. "I'm sure it'll pass."

It was his experience that when confronted with their own mortality, people did not tend to react well. He didn't want to scare her, he wanted to comfort her. Until he could figure out a way to stop whatever was happening to her, he'd have to do his best to avoid telling her the truth. Daniel didn't like lying to people, and certainly wasn't good at it, but as his options were limited at present, this is how it would have to be.

"It's not just that . . ." she continued.

He would have groaned if it wouldn't have alerted her to his knowledge of what was wrong with her.

"It's the weirdest thing: earlier, I was thinking about my mom and all of a sudden I couldn't remember her maiden name. I mean, isn't that odd?"

It was more than just odd. It was nothing short of terrifying to Daniel.

"Don't worry about it," he said quickly. A bit too quickly. "Listen, all of us have been under a lot of stress."

A moment of silence, brief but meaningful, passed. Daniel didn't look at Charlotte, but she was watching him.

"Daniel," she said, her voice low and serious. "Do you know what's happening to me?"

Now came the moment of truth: would he tell her the truth despite the repercussions it might have on her mentally and emotionally, or would he lie to her and spare her the misery of knowing that she was on a path headed towards her grave?

Thankfully, before he had to decide, Miles' voice breached the heavy quiet of the night with a loud "dinner!"

As everyone's attention was diverted to the man whom had brought their potential meal, Daniel could only stare at the sand. He may have been saved by the proverbial bell this time, but it'd only be a matter of time (pun not intended) until Charlotte asked him again. He knew he couldn't lie to her even if he wanted to. If she asked again, he would answer her with nothing short of the truth, no matter how terrible it was.

Daniel just hoped that by then he'd have a solution to save her, too.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST!

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!! I know you're all probably wondering why it took me so long to get up something about LOST and you have my mother to thank for that who wouldn't let me watch it until FREAKING SATURDAY because we were supposed to "watch it as a family". PUHLEASE. She didn't even end up watching it with us!

But I digress. ONTO LOST (AND DANIEL, SQUEE!)!

I am flipping out right now! I just finished watching the two LOST episodes and OMFG!! Craziness all over the place! But much love--much, MUCH love. I didn't realize how much I missed this until it came back! Gosh. Don't ever go on hiatus for so long again, LOST. *squeezes*

Okay, deep breaths. I'll try and be cognizant, but no promises. ;)

DANIEL FREAKING FARADAY! I love him to death. SERIOUSLY. I mean, there's really nothing I dislike about this character. Jeremy Davies portrays him so well, that I literally squee every time he comes on screen (much to the annoyance of fellow watchers). It's hilarious how he's the only one who knows what the heck is going on, with the exception of probably Ben, and the whole scene where he was like "Difficult would be trying to explain it to a Quantum Physicist! That would be difficult!" and Sawyer totally bitch slaps him, I was like "OMG! STOP MANHANDLING MY NERD!" But, there was a good part to that scene and that would be . . .

CHARALDAY IS LOVE! Did you SEE how happy she was when she saw Daniel? She practically GLOMPED him! It was utterly fantastic! And then in the aforementioned hitting of the geek, she totally stepped between Sawyer and him to defend Daniel! I mean, throughout both episodes, she was near him practically the whole time and OMGOSH. It was LOVE. I ship them so hard, it's amazing that my brain didn't just leak out of my ears every time that they were on screen together.

OH OH! But the scene where her nose started bleeding and Daniel's absolutely horrified look. I died. I was like "OMG, NOT CHARLOTTE!" and he played it off as being squeamish but GOSH DARNIT, DAN! DO SOMETHING! They can't kill of Charlotte, I'll cry! Do not sink the good ship Charladay, Darlton! That would be so so cruel!

And then there was that scene with them on the beach, and he's all alone and she comes over and gives him something to eat. SO ADORABLE. But on a more somber note, I'm seriously concerned for Charlotte. She needs a constant! The commercials are scaring me too because it looked like she was really deathly pale at one point when she says "this island is death!" and also it looks like Daniel's holding her and crying at another point too. EGADS, MAN. *panics* *huggles Charladay*

OMGOSH, and I ALMOST forgot! The scene where they're attacked on the beach, and Charlotte falls down, and DANIEL GOES BACK TO HELP HER UP. LOVE LOVE LOVE. THEY TOTALLY LOVE EACH OTHER. Period.

Time Dislodgement Theory. I called it. LOL. I totally said ahead of time that the Island just moved in time, because I mean, where else would it have gone? A geographic move is just not cool enough for LOST, after all. But if they're all dislodged in time, and not all of them have constants, what's going to stop them from starting to die one by one? And how will they fix it? Which brings me to another question . . .

The Oceanic Six (And Ben) (And Maybe Desmond, too?). Why do they need to go back to the Island. I still don't understand why they HAVE to go back. Is the Island a conscious entity, is it demanding that they come back or else it will throw a tantrum that will consume and destroy the world? I have no idea. Lately, I'm leaning towards the Island being more of an entity rather than just an island since they're always saying "the Island wanted you to do this", "the Island brought you here for a reason". Blah, blah, blah, etc. Any ideas, my lovely LOST flist?

The Mistress of Time. Okay, is she actually a person or just a symbolic representation of time? Is Time an actually entity, too? If she's just a person, how come she can traverse time? Does anyone else think that she might be Daniel's mother? I mean, think about it: Daniel knows the most about all this crazy time stuff, and his mother would be fairly old by now, and . . . I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I can't help but wonder if this lady who keeps popping up in different times is Faraday's mother and that's why he told Desmond to go look for her, because she would know what to do. Just a thought. Anyone else have any theories on who Daniel's mum might be?

Miles: Snark Has a New Face. LOL! He actually CORRECTED Sawyer on a nickname. I cannot be the only one who LOL'd at that! I really have started to like Miles, he's so quirky. I love all the Freighties though. ^_^

Neil AKA Redshirt AKA Goner. The moment he came on screen in that red shirt, I was like "Dude, you are toast." And he was! LITERALLY.

Okay, so, that's all I can recall off of the top of my head right now, but I'm sure there's more. lolol. I'm gonna go back through my flist and find all the LOST-related posts and comment on them now (I was avoiding spoilers before xD).

Oh, and let me say, there will be fanfiction. Charladay fanfiction. A LOT of it to come, most likely. XD *bounces*

New layout . . . again. Someone stop me! XD

I hate myself, I really do. *sigh* Made myself a new layout of Tuvia (Daniel Craig) and Lilka (Alexa Davalos) from Defiance. I blame Daniel Craig and his in-movie Polish accent, argh! Like I needed a new obsession . . .

lady_boromir lady_boromir lady_boromir

Movie Review: Defiance

So, it takes a really good movie to entice me into seeing it at the theatre (especially in our economically troubled time) and I must say, Defiance was well worth the $9.75 I spent to go see it. The entire movie was SO well done, from the plot to the acting and everything in between; it really had everything--action, drama, romance, humour in a culminating 2 hours and 17 minutes of amazingness. I was thoroughly impressed by Daniel Craig's acting and must apologize for knocking him earlier. I stand by the fact that I don't like him as Bond, but he's truly a wonderful actor and he freaking rocked in Defiance. Not gonna lie, he was hot. XD

So yes, I could fangirl about it some more, but I think I'll just say "GO SEE IT" and leave it at that. ;)

"This is a post. It might be handy if you, the flist, decide to read it."

So I was browsing the interwebz as is usually my wont and I came across the Resident Evil wikipedia page. While perusing, I came across this interesting bit of trivia: Apparently, one of the RE games earned the Guiness Book of World Records award for . . .

Worst Game Dialogue Ever for the line "Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you".

I don't know about you, but I found this hilarious. So, naturally, I started playing around with it and came up with all sorts of alterations to it.

Such as:
"Here's a sandwhich. It might be handy if you, the master of peanut butter and jelly, get hungry."

And then some other ones which are not so PG, haha.

I find it fun and hilarious, so this is me trying to get the ball rolling with inventing variations of this painful line. LOL.

If you read this post, post your own variation of the "Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you" line in your livejournal! Spread the crazy!

24 - S7 ep 3 and 4

A bit late but ah well. I thought these episodes were even better than the first two! :D

These were such good episodes! I can't really say anything about them that people on my flist haven't already, but wow. 24 never ceases to please me, really. LOL. I'm really excited that Tony isn't an evil guy--I never thought he was. But he's, as my friend said, one of the hottest good guys because he's a reformed bad guy. XDD I am curious to know all that he did while actually working for the bad guys but that's what fanfiction is for, hee!

Anyway, short little blurb this week about the episodes because there wasn't anything I really disliked about them; I enjoyed them both quite a lot.

Oh. And I totally flipped out when Bill came on screen, and then Chloe! SO AMAZING.

Ahhhhhhh, I've said it before and I will say it again, I love this show. :D
24 - S7, Ep1 and 2

I've missed this.

Okay, so I pretty much loved everything about the first two hours. But when it comes to 24, I'm fairly easy to please. Since I was A-Ok with the plot, I'm gonna focus on the characters more.

Madame President. I don't dislike her, but she hasn't really done anything to make me like her yet either. It doesn't help that I'm a hardcore David Palmer as President supporter. It sort of seemed like she wasn't really making any decisions at all, just being told everything that was going on. *shrugs* We'll see.

Janis. She's not Chloe, that's for sure, but she's very human and I don't mind her. :)

Creepy dark-haired computer analyst guy whose name escapes me. You're not Milo, thus I do not like you very much. But really, it's just 'cause you seem like kind of a douchebag. Sorry, but it's true. Become more interesting and I'll consider changing my opinion. Kthxbai.

Larry. I already hate this guy. He seems like real piece of work and not in a good way. The fact that he seemed to act as though he knew everything about Jack and how he acts bugged me. Also: the fact that he didn't trust Renee when she asked him to was really lame. Then again, this could be my dislike of the fact that he's just not Bill Buchanan (which we have yet to see;_;!).

Renee Walker. Let it be shown, in the history of 24, that someone is finally listening to Jack Bauer! For that reason alone, I can appreciate her. I believe they're setting her up as his possible love interest so that makes me wary, but since I'm a shipping whore more often than not, I'll give her a chance.

Jack Bauer. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. LOVE. 'Nuff said. But really, so far, he's rockin' as usual. The opening with him and the senate--he totally OWNED them. Ahhh, good times in the Bauer Power Hour.

TONY FREAKING ALMEIDA. I told you so. HE IS ALIVE. OKAY, now that I got that out of my system, TONY IS BACK (and although they make him out to be evil but I do not think that this is so!). Although I miss his hair, and not too fond of the extra facial hair, I am glad to have him back. I really think that there's something a lot larger at play here than simple revenge against the government; I'm not sure what that something is yet but . . . yeah, there has to be something else. *hugs teh Tony*

Also:
+Where is BILL AND KAREN? And Tom Lennox for that matter! I miss them all.
+Poor Jack looked all heartbroken with his "what happened to you, Tony?" at the end. Poor Tony looked all . . . broken with his bleeding nose and defiant-ness.
+Is Chloe in the house? How about Morris? Will Nadia Yassir please stand up?
+I love 24. ^_^
Anakin Skywalker - Just to Get High, a music video

I've always wanted to make a Star Wars music video and upon hearing this song I immediately knew that I just had to make a vid for it as it was so perfect! It's basically about how Anakin ended up sacrificing everything all for power ("just to get high"). I think it's pretty self-explanatory, so sit back, watch, and enjoy!

Characters: Anakin, Obi-Wan, Padme
Clips: Episode I-III
Song: Just to Get High
Artist: Nickelback

<lj-embed id="11" />

(P.S. Feel free to drop me a comment/rating over on youtube! The URL will be supplied at the end of the vid.)

Anime - The Third: Girl with the Blue Eye

I just finished another anime series, this one called The Third: Girl with the Blue Eye, and it was fantastic.

Plot Synopsis:
The series is set many years after a devastating war, which killed 80% of the earth's population. Earth is being watched by a group of beings known as The Third, named after the red eye on their forehead (Space Eye) that can access many types of computer systems. It follows the adventures of Honoka and Bogie.

My Thoughts:
It is a sin how unknown this series is! I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this series from the art style to the characters and especially the plot. Typically, I'm annoyed by overly-independent female leads, but Honoka was very realistic and likeable despite her independent nature! I'll probably end up cosplaying her at some point because she's really a neat character, and her costume is super easy. The pacing of the plot was nice, not too slow or too fast, and most everything seemed to click by the end (although at some points, you're like "and what's going on, now?" but not necessarily in a bad way). The only thing I think I would've liked to have more of was some of the history of the Great War that's referenced lots of times but never exactly elaborated on (though I figure I can understand the reason why that is), and also more information about the Third race; specifically, all the things their astral eye can do (because, I swear, they kept coming up with more and more things it could do, lol), and the whole thing with their emotions and such which was not elaborated on until the near-end and even then, it wasn't all that clear.

But I digress.

Joganki was my fav character as voiced by . . . Patrick Seitz! Big surprise, right? But yes, he was pretty, and sarcastic, and overall amazing. I still wish I knew what his whole thing with Honoka was, though! Gosh, dang! Also: I probably ship him with Rona Fauna because unrequited love to that extreme is so brilliant. LOL. At first, I was like "eh?" and then towards the end of the whole thing with her, I was like "OMG! SO SAD BUT AMAZING!" *ahem*

I totally would recommend watching this series, especially if you're a Sci-fi fan. :)

Christmas drabble for _badly_drawn_!

Title: Guardian Angel
Fandom: LOST
Characters/Pairing: Daniel/Charlotte
Rating: PG
Warnings: None.
Summary: With Miles and the rest of the crew constantly harassing him, Daniel finds it a little hard to work. But maybe Charlotte can help him out?
A/N: For _badly_drawn_. Merry Christmas!

Even all of of Daniel's scientific logarithms put together couldn't have accurately accounted for and predicted the impending disaster that being stuck on a ship with complete strangers would present for him.

Not only was he somewhat claustrophobic within tight quarters, but the majority of the crew liked to pick on him when they grew tired of their own business and chores. He'd dealt with the latter for the majority of his latter life, as his mind had begun to go some, so it wasn't that that bothered him so much . . . but it did bother him that all the constant interruptions were hindering his work, and the atmosphere wasn't exactly conducive to his science in the first place.

He heard some footsteps approaching from behind, and he immediately assumed the worst. "Uh, Miles, kind of busy here, at the moment . . ." he began, rapidly trying to think of a way to get the mean little Asian man to leave him alone.

However, his assumption proved incorrect . . . as most assumptions tended to.

"Didn't mean to interrupt you," replied an accented voice, one he recognized as belonging to one of the few tolerable people on the ship.

"Charlotte!" he blurted out, whirling around to face her. "Sorry! I, uh, I thought you were Miles."

"I take it he's been giving you a spot of trouble lately, yeah?"

"Yeah . . ."

Charlotte leaned against the railing of the ship, adjacent to where Daniel was working with a prototype rocket of some sort.

"You shouldn't let him get to you," she told him. "You're more important to this assignment than he is, you know. I'm sure he's just jealous."

He blinked. More important to this assignment? He'd thought that they were all an equal part to it, but Charlotte seemed to think otherwise. And it was probable that she knew more about all this than he did; they rarely told him anything, and the little they did tell him wasn't all that helpful to enlighten what they were going to do once they reached their destination.

Still, it was nice that she was trying to cheer him up.

"Yeah, maybe," he said.

The red-haired woman moved to him, placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "As for the rest of the crew, well, it's just a little cabin fever." A strange look caught her eye, something Daniel likened to mischief. How had she known about the other crew hassling him as well? She must have been more observant than he gave her credit for.

Since she was obviously awaiting a response from him, he nodded. "Yeah," he agreed complacently.

"I'll make sure they all leave you alone from now on. Sound good?"

She gave his shoulder a small squeeze, and then departed back the way she'd come before he could give a proper reply. Daniel smiled, somehow assured now that he had a guardian angel aboard the ship looking out for him.
